Dutch entrepreneurs face rising barriers in financing applications

Research from the Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel) indicates that more than one-third of entrepreneurs abandon financing applications due to overly complex processes. Nearly half of all entrepreneurs find the application process complicated, and six out of ten are unsure which type of financing best suits their specific needs.

This financing gap is a national issue in the Netherlands. Small business owners face rising barriers, with reports suggesting that female entrepreneurs encounter obstacles even before the application stage. Many entrepreneurs report feeling lost due to the wide variety of financing options and a lack of clarity regarding the application procedures. Two-thirds of entrepreneurs expressed a need for an independent overview of available financing forms and providers to help navigate the market.
