Dutch football players and commentators criticize refereeing

Dutch football players and commentators have expressed frustration regarding refereeing decisions and the application of rules in recent matches.

In the match involving Jong PSV, striker Veerman criticized the officiating after a late goal by Shuryjano Cornecion. Veerman specifically noted perceived inconsistencies in how referees manage time, alleging that while his goalkeeper was permitted to count to five during goal kicks, opposing keepers were allowed to count much higher without intervention.

In a separate incident during the NEC vs. Telstar match, Telstar goalkeeper Ronald Koeman junior and journalist Mike Verweij criticized referee Martijn Vos. Koeman junior received a yellow card and a warning for time wasting, a decision he contested by stating the referee began counting before he had even reached the ball. Verweij described the referee's approach as ‘a bit of an arrogant move’ regarding the timing of the warnings.
