Dutch heritage sites host public tours and festivals in August

In the province of Gelderland, the Tourist Information Point in Eibergen organized a 40‑kilometre bike tour on 22 August that allowed participants to visit two corsowagon construction sites in Beltrum, the dahliagarden at the Piepermolen, and a crew in Rekken. The tour offered a behind‑the‑scenes look at the building of the elaborate flower parade floats, with a modest participation fee and free access for children up to 12.

Meanwhile, in the village of Midwolda, the historic 1858 Boerderij Hermans Dijkstra opened its doors to visitors. The restored gentleman’s farm, preserved by a local foundation after the last owner died in 1994, now showcases historic farm life, hosts volunteer garden work, and is available for events such as weddings and hospitality services. The owners invite schoolchildren and volunteers to help maintain the property.

Both events aim to promote local cultural heritage and involve community volunteers, offering educational experiences for residents and tourists alike.
