Dutch horticulture initiatives win sustainability recognition
De Transparante Tuinder has been awarded the Plantum Impact Prize 2026. This initiative involves eleven greenhouse horticulture companies that make their sustainability performance transparent and measurable. Through a public-private partnership involving Wageningen University & Research and other organizations, the project aims to improve water quality visibility and build trust within the supply chain.
In a separate development regarding sustainability in the sector, Royal FloraHolland has announced five nominees for its Sustainability Award. The nominees include Ammerlaan The Green Innovator BV, which focuses on biological crop protection; GOVA, which utilizes the Nutri-cycler to convert plant waste into liquid fertilizers; LG Flowers, which uses ScoutEye technology; Zentoo, which has developed a sustainable chrysanthemum cultivation approach; and Opti-Flor, which is working on innovative greenhouse concepts.
