Dutch logistics firms accelerate electric truck adoption

Transport company T. Vreugdenhil in the Netherlands is expanding its electric fleet from four to six Scania 40R trucks by October, citing rising diesel prices and a forthcoming truck tax in 2026 as a cost‑switching point. The firm plans to open its own charging yard later this year and will make it available to other operators.

Logistics group Contargo, also based in the Netherlands, commissioned its first two fully electric Mercedes eActros trucks and a dedicated charging station at the Bruay‑sur‑l’Escaut container terminal in northern France. The project supports Contargo’s goal of operating emission‑free by 2045. Among its 250 owned trucks, 92 are already electric, and the company aims to increase charging points to 90 across fifteen sites by the end of 2026.
