Dutch municipalities approve new town hall and library expansions

The Voorschoten municipal council voted to purchase the former Zilverfabriek building for a new town hall, a project estimated at €21 million. The decision aims to resolve a long‑standing housing issue for municipal offices, with the new facility expected to be operational by early 2028.

In Zoetermeer, the council approved a credit request to remodel a former restaurant space on Stadhuisplein into an expanded library area. The refurbishment will house a new youth department, additional study and workspaces, and improve accessibility to the library.

Both decisions reflect local efforts to modernise municipal services and improve public facilities in the Netherlands.
