Dutch municipalities offer free summer programs for youth
In the municipality of Oldambt, the TOF Oldambt project organized a free summer programme for young people aged 10‑18. Running from 7 July to 22 July 2026, it included fishing at De Kolk in Midwolda, a slip‑and‑slide kickball event on Strand Zuid in Blauwestad, a visit to the Wipe‑Out Aqua Park in Veendam, and weekly sessions at the Urban Loods in Winschoten where participants could skate, play basketball, football or simply hang out.
Meanwhile, the neighbouring towns of Nederweert and Weert (Limburg) launched a similar free programme from 13 July to 12 August 2026, coordinated by Punt Welzijn. The schedule offers climbing in a forest‑high rope course, bowling at Pins & Pints, a cooking workshop, a inflatable slide, and ends with a community barbecue. All activities are free and require prior registration.
Both initiatives aim to provide safe, social and active summer experiences for local youth.
