Dutch researchers receive NWO Vidi grants

Researchers from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) have been awarded Vidi grants from the Dutch Research Council (NWO). These grants, which can reach up to 850,000 euros, are designed to support mid-career researchers in establishing independent research groups and developing innovative research lines.

At TU/e, four researchers—Irene Kuling, Christopher Hojny, Tommaso Ristori, and Elisa Perrone—received funding for projects involving haptic feedback for surgical robots, neural networks, blood vessel regrowth, and weather prediction.

TU Delft saw significant success with 13 laureates. Projects include quantum behavior measurement, battery improvements, hydrogen sensors, radionuclide production for medicine, and biosensors for stroke detection. Other Delft-based research focuses on AI that mimics scientific reasoning, extreme wave mathematics, compact terahertz spectrometers, robotics, and generative AI in industrial design.
