Dutch sailing festivals Deltaweekend and Varend Corso set to draw crowds
The 54th edition of the Deltaweekend will take place in Zierikzee from 26 to 28 June. More than 50 sailing yachts will compete in ORC/IRC classes, with a new influx of seven RS21 boats and the Maxfun25 national class championship adding depth to the event. The three‑day programme includes daily races on the Oosterschelde, a prize ceremony on Sunday and evening entertainment featuring the local cover band Groeftones.
The Varend Corso returns for its 26th edition on the Westland and Delfland waterways from Friday to Sunday. Forty‑one decorated boats will follow a route that starts in Honselersdijk, passes through De Lier, Schipluiden, Vlaardingen, Maasland and finishes in Maassluis, with a second day centred on Westland villages and a final day on the Delfland route. The theme “One Great Adventure” provides a shared storyline for participants. Organisers expect hundreds of thousands of visitors and advise travel by bike or public transport.
