A 43-year-old Dutch sperm donor, known as Simon, has admitted to being the biological father of at least 199 children across Europe. In a letter sent to parents via a group chat, he revealed that his donations resulted in 172 births in the Netherlands, 15 in Germany, 11 in Belgium, and one in another European country. He also noted that one woman remains pregnant.

Simon, originally from the Groningen region, admitted he had not always been transparent with parents regarding the scale of his donations, providing them with an incomplete or distorted picture. He reportedly used multiple aliases, including Jesse, Johan, Daan, Sam, and Maarten, to facilitate his donations through various sperm banks and via direct contact with families online.

The revelation has prompted investigations by authorities in both the Netherlands and Belgium. The Belgian Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAMHP) is examining whether the man donated through Belgian clinics or informal networks. The case has raised significant concerns regarding the effectiveness of donor regulations and the potential risks of accidental consanguinity within the population.
