Dutch summer museum programs engage families at Landgoed de Oosterhof and Oosterhout

On July 15, municipal councilor Erik Wessels opened the Zomermuseumdagen at Landgoed de Oosterhof in Rijssen, Netherlands. The six‑day event runs Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11 am to 4 pm, offering free activities such as a bounce house, mobile clog makers, folklore performances, historic games, and a 35‑metre model‑train layout presented by the Train Hobby Club Almelo. Admission to the museum grounds is free for members; other visitors pay the standard fee.

Meanwhile, the Speelgoedmuseum Oosterhout is hosting the temporary MAD PLAY LAB exhibition until 30 August. Developed by first‑year students of Fontys Academy of the Arts, the interactive lab invites visitors to rebuild historic toys, experiment with a magic lantern, and explore themes of identity and sustainability. The exhibition is part of the Hotspots Oosterhout cultural program and is open daily during regular museum hours.
