Dutch telecommunications updates: Ziggo, NLZiet, and Hollandsnieuwe
Several developments are affecting internet and television consumers in the Netherlands. Ziggo customers who renewed or started subscriptions between April 1 and May 11, 2024, may face price increases starting November 1. This follows the addition of ESPN 2, 3, and 4 to digital packages, which previously included a temporary €2.50 monthly discount. Because the price will rise during the contract period, these specific customers have the right to terminate their contracts without penalty until November 1, 2026.
In the streaming sector, NLZiet has introduced support for Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround sound. This feature allows for spatial audio on compatible broadcasts and is available on various devices, including Apple TV, Android TV, and smart TVs. The service remains available across the EU and works with any internet provider.
Additionally, the provider Hollandsnieuwe is offering a weekend promotion. Customers signing a two-year contract can receive 50 percent off their monthly internet fee for the first year, plus a €50 cashback. Those opting for a one-year contract can receive 50 percent off for the first six months, free TV for that period, and a €50 cashback.
