Dutch towns host free children's water and sports festivals in June
On Saturday 27 June 2026, the nature centre De Maashorst in Nistelrode will hold a free Waterday for children and their (grand)parents. Activities include discovering water creatures, earning a dike‑watcher diploma, sand‑bag races, water‑drop collection, playing plumber, and extinguishing a mock forest fire, alongside exhibitions on beavers, otters and water‑management.
On Wednesday 10 June, Gouda‑Noord will host a free National Outdoor Play Day at the grass field by Ontmoetingscentrum Van Noord. Children aged 4‑12 can try knot‑hockey, cornhole, king‑of‑the‑hill games, skikeball, sidewalk drawing and more, with a special activity organized by football club Sparta Rotterdam. The event also promotes a sports‑gear donation drive for the local Sportspullenbank.
Both festivals aim to engage youngsters in playful, educational experiences while encouraging community participation.
