Dutch towns host nature‑art markets promoting sustainability

At De Tempelhof in Winssen, a weekend festival combined art, music, talks and regional organic food under the motto “We are Nature”. Visitors enjoyed harp, multi‑instrumental and cello performances, lectures on the ANIMA MUNDI project, and a market featuring local biodynamic wine, cheese, breads, vegetables, juices and craft beer. Admission was €15, with reduced rates for children and pass holders, and the site was wheelchair‑accessible with encouragement to arrive by bike or public transport.

On the Marineterrein in Amsterdam, the annual Groenmarkt gathered hundreds of visitors for a vibrant mix of sustainable initiatives, local makers and workshops. Highlights included the rapid sale of 200 native plants, beekeeping honey from municipal rooftops, a showcase of regional coffee, tea and syrups, and food stalls offering Dominican street food, Asian bites and homemade treats. Interactive workshops taught crepe‑paper flower making, dry‑flower décor, insect‑print clothing and henna art, while a programme of world‑inspired music provided entertainment. The market emphasized community interaction, reuse and the role of insects in urban ecology.
