Dylan Dog celebrates 40 years of Italian comic history

The iconic Italian comic book series Dylan Dog is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Created by Tiziano Sclavi and published by Sergio Bonelli Editore, the series debuted on September 26, 1986, with the first adventure titled ‘L’alba dei morti viventi’. Since its inception, the character has evolved from a traditional adventure hero into a staple of the comic industry, appearing in both newsstands and bookstores in large-format editions.

To mark the milestone, events and deep dives are being organized. In Ferrara, illustrator Nicola Mari will host a public meeting at the Ubik bookstore on Friday, September 25. The event offers fans a chance to discuss the creative process behind the series’ gothic and unsettling atmospheres. Additionally, an analytical exploration of the character's four-decade history and its changing relationship with the public is being presented by Vanloon, featuring insights from academic Alberto Sebastiani.
