Düzce Atatürk State Hospital launches PET-CT service

Düzce Atatürk State Hospital has officially launched its new PET-CT device in the Nuclear Medicine Department, addressing a significant gap in local cancer diagnosis and monitoring capabilities. The high-cost equipment was acquired with approximately 80 million lira in resources.

The introduction of the device is expected to reduce the need for patients in Düzce to travel to neighboring provinces such as Sakarya, Bolu, or Kocaeli for diagnostic procedures. This shift aims to decrease the time and financial burden on patients and their families while accelerating the diagnostic process.

Local officials, including Governor Mehmet Makas and AK Party Düzce Deputy Ayşe Keşir, noted that PET-CT technology is currently available in only 48 provinces across Turkey due to high costs and population requirements. Officials stated that the service will benefit not only Düzce residents but also patients from surrounding regions.
