Düzce launches mobilization against brown marmorated stink bug

Agricultural authorities in Düzce, Turkey, have launched a mobilization effort to combat the brown marmorated stink bug, a pest threatening local agricultural production. In the Çilimli district, a program was organized by the Düzce Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, with support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Düzce Governorate.

During the program, plant protection products were distributed to 27 village and neighborhood mukhtars (local heads) to assist in the fight against the pest. Officials provided technical training regarding effective combat methods, including optimal spraying times, application techniques, and correct product-to-water mixing ratios.

Esra Uzun, the Düzce Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, emphasized the necessity of a collective response involving producers, local leaders, and relevant institutions. The initiative aims to keep the pest population below the economic damage threshold by applying various methods in accordance with Integrated Pest Management principles.
