Turkish municipalities launch widespread infrastructure and road renewal projects
Municipalities across various Turkish provinces are conducting extensive infrastructure and road maintenance projects to improve urban transportation and logistics.
In Gaziantep, Şehitkamil Municipality has completed 35 kilometers of asphalt paving in the KÜSGET and 25 Aralık industrial zones, utilizing 75,000 tons of asphalt. Similarly, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality has finished asphalt work in the Küçük Sanayi Sitesi, benefiting 2,000 tradesmen and 20,000 citizens. In Çumra, road renewal projects are underway to modernize industrial area access.
Major urban projects include a 500 million TL underpass in İzmir, which requires manual excavation due to soil liquefaction near metro and railway lines. Kocaeli is investing 170 million TL to renew Uğur Mumcu Street, while also constructing a pedestrian and bicycle underpass in Kartepe. In Kahramanmaraş, a new three-story interchange is being built to alleviate traffic congestion.
Other regional efforts include Düzce’s participation as a pilot city for modern wooden building technology and its ongoing 24/7 asphalt mobilization. In Kepez, a new emulsion plant has been opened to reduce road construction costs, while Nazilli and Niğde continue to focus on street-level paving and long-term infrastructure planning.
