E-bike rider in critical condition after Brooklyn hit-and-run

A 33-year-old e-bike rider is in critical condition following a hit-and-run accident in Brooklyn on Tuesday night. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Nostrand Avenue and Atlantic Avenue in Crown Heights.

According to police, the cyclist was traveling south in the right lane when a white 2026 Hyundai Elantra, which had been in the center lane, merged into the right lane and struck him. The impact caused the rider to suffer severe head trauma. The driver of the Hyundai fled the scene, traveling south on Nostrand Avenue, and remains at large.

The victim was transported to Kings County Hospital Center, where he remained in critical condition as of Wednesday. This incident follows several recent fatal or serious accidents involving e-bikes in New York City, including a fatal collision in the Bronx on October 7 and a delivery worker's death in Herald Square in late September.
