E Hospital investigates bribery allegations in radiotherapy department

E Hospital in Hanoi has convened a patient council to address allegations that patients in the radiotherapy department were required to insert 50,000 to 100,000 VND into their medical records to receive faster treatment.

Phan Thao Nguyen, Deputy Director of E Hospital, stated that police have been involved to clarify the situation. Five employees from the radiotherapy department have been summoned by authorities for questioning. While some patients reported not witnessing solicitation, others noted that the practice had become a perceived custom. In response, the hospital has deployed six additional staff members to the department to ensure professional care and prevent disruptions to treatment.

The Ministry of Health's Medical Examination and Treatment Administration has ordered E Hospital to investigate the claims, strictly handle any violations, and publicly disclose the results by September 15. The administration also emphasized the need for increased supervision across all hospital departments to detect and rectify similar misconduct.
