EA Sports FC 27 has achieved a dominant commercial launch in Germany, securing the most successful game debut of 2026 according to GfK Entertainment. The title reached the number one position across five major platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.

While the game dominates the sales charts, its competitive structure has drawn criticism. The open Virtuelle Bundesliga (VBL) qualification process is being restructured to move into the Ultimate Team mode. This shift moves away from a format where player skill and tactics were prioritized through standardized team values, transitioning instead toward a model centered on building high-value Ultimate Teams.
