EA Sports FC 27 launches with open‑world hub The Grounds and major gameplay overhauls
EA Sports FC 27 is set to release on 25 September 2026 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. The game replaces traditional menu navigation with a new open‑world social hub called The Grounds, a shared environment inspired by street‑football cultures in the UK, France and Argentina. The hub is divided into three districts—Parkside, Montclair and Zeiza—each offering matchmaking lobbies, mini‑games such as timed‑target 3‑v‑3, a dodgeball‑style mode, and exploration rewards like smash‑targets and hidden challenges.
Beyond the hub, EA has overhauled core gameplay and the Career mode transfer system. Defensive AI has been refined, erratic interceptions removed, and player ratings now adjust dynamically. The Career mode market now uses a multi‑stage negotiation process and a new valuation model based on TransferRoom’s Expected Transfer Value (xTV), integrating scouting tools and real‑time market factors. Japanese coverage quotes line producer Kurtik Venkatesh describing The Grounds as one of the biggest recent innovations, while design director Jean‑François Guastara highlights the effort to make each district feel authentic to its cultural inspiration.
