Ea Trum Reservoir experiences mass fish deaths in Dak Lak

Mass fish deaths have been reported at the Ea Trum irrigation reservoir in Quang Phu Commune, Dak Lak Province, since August 27. Large quantities of various species, including carp, grass carp, and tilapia, have been found floating on the water, causing significant odor and environmental pollution.

Local residents in Suut Mgrư village have expressed concern regarding the impact on their daily lives and farming activities. Some community members suspect the deaths may be linked to wastewater from the Tan An industrial cluster, noting a drainage pipe that leads from the industrial area's treatment facility into the reservoir's upstream section.

Local authorities, including the Quang Phu Commune People's Committee, are currently working with police and relevant agencies to investigate the cause. Officials have collected water samples for testing to determine whether industrial discharge or other factors are responsible for the incident.
