EACC arrests Kenyan judiciary and DCI officials over bribery allegations
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has conducted several arrests involving judicial and law enforcement officials in Kenya following allegations of bribery.
In Eldoret, a Court Assistant was arrested for allegedly receiving Ksh20,000 to facilitate a stay order regarding a land auction. This followed a complaint that a magistrate had initially demanded Ksh50,000. In Nakuru, a court process server was arrested for allegedly soliciting a bribe to provide a convenient mention date for a case.
Additionally, two officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kipkelion Sub-County were arrested. They are accused of demanding Ksh500,000 from a complainant to terminate a murder case. The officers were reportedly apprehended while receiving Ksh120,000.
