EACC arrests two Kenyan court staff in separate bribery cases

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested two judiciary staff members in separate bribery cases in Eldoret and Nakuru, Kenya.

In Eldoret, a Court Assistant, Linet Okungu, was arrested for allegedly soliciting and receiving Ksh20,000 to facilitate a stay order to stop a land auction. The arrest followed a complaint from a court user who claimed a magistrate had demanded Ksh50,000 for the same service. Okungu was released on a cash bail of Ksh20,000 pending further investigations.

In Nakuru, a court process server, Benard Ngeno, was arrested for allegedly soliciting and receiving a bribe to provide a complainant with a convenient mention date for a case. Ngeno was released on a cash bail of Ksh5,000 while investigations continue.
