Earth Sciences Museum brings prehistoric exhibition to Morro da Urca
The Earth Sciences Museum (MCTer) is bringing its collection to Morro da Urca in Rio de Janeiro through a prehistoric adventure exhibition. Running from October 5 to October 18, the event features fossils, rocks, minerals, and meteorites from one of Latin America’s richest geological collections.
This itinerant program, organized by the Geological Survey of Brazil (SGB), serves as a way to maintain public engagement while the museum’s main headquarters undergoes renovations. The initiative is a partnership with Parque Bondinho to bring scientific knowledge directly to the public.
Special programming is scheduled for Children’s Day on October 12 via the SGBeduca program. Activities for children include a fossil replica scavenger hunt, an origami workshop, a dinosaur race, and a fossil laboratory where visitors can use magnifying glasses to examine teeth, bones, and footprints.
