Italy experiences multiple earthquakes in Calabria, Sicily, and Rieti

Multiple seismic events have been recorded across various regions of Italy. In Calabria, a magnitude 3.7 earthquake struck near Castiglione Cosentino on September 4 at 21:31. The tremor, occurring at a depth of approximately 9 kilometers, caused panic in the Cosenza province, leading many residents to flee their homes. While no major damage was reported, the Mayor of Castiglione Cosentino, Salvatore Magarò, noted that some debris fell from the ceiling of the municipal council building.

In Sicily, the Nebrodi mountains and the Messina province experienced several tremors. A magnitude 3.1 earthquake was recorded near San Fratello and Caronia on September 5, following a similar event on September 4. These tremors were felt across 14 municipalities, though no injuries or structural damages were reported.

Additionally, a sequence of smaller earthquakes occurred in Accumoli, Rieti, during the early hours of September 5. The strongest in this sequence was a magnitude 2.9 tremor at 06:02, followed by two smaller events. Local authorities reported that while the tremors were felt by citizens, they did not trigger official alarms or require emergency intervention from firefighters.
