Earthquake strikes Mexico-Guatemala border

A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 shook the border region between Mexico and Guatemala. According to the National Seismological Service of Mexico, the epicenter was located at sea, approximately 156 kilometers southwest of Ciudad Hidalgo, Michoacán.

The seismic event occurred at 11:02 p.m. local time with a hypocenter depth of between 3 and 4 kilometers. While Mexican authorities reported a magnitude of 5.8, the Seismological Service of Guatemala recorded the movement at a magnitude of 5.7.
