Fukuoka earthquake hits northern Kyushu with magnitude 4.4

A magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck the Fukuoka region on northern Kyushu, Japan, at approximately 6:37 AM on Monday, August 17. The epicenter was located at a depth of about 10 kilometers.

The Japan Meteorological Agency reported that the highest seismic intensity reached level 4 on the Japanese shindo scale in Itoshima, Fukuoka Prefecture. Other notable tremors included intensity 3 in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture, and the Nishi district of Fukuoka City. Shaking was also felt across parts of Nagasaki, Kumamoto, and Yamaguchi prefectures.

There is no risk of a tsunami resulting from this earthquake. As of the latest reports, no significant damage, injuries, or disruptions to transportation and services have been confirmed.
