On August 27, a magnitude 3.8 earthquake struck the Ashikita region of Kumamoto, reaching intensity 3 in Kamiamakusa City.

As Kumamoto marks one month since the major intensity 7 event, recovery efforts involving volunteers and local officials are underway. While repairs to electricity, gas, and water infrastructure are progressing, residents continue to face challenges such as water outages and prolonged evacuation due to ongoing aftershocks.
