Earthquakes strike Da Nang and Quang Ngai provinces

A series of earthquakes has been recorded in the highland areas of Da Nang and Quang Ngai provinces in Vietnam. Within a two-day period, a total of eight earthquakes were reported.

On the morning of September 21, four consecutive tremors occurred within less than five hours. These included a magnitude 2.6 quake in Tra Linh, Da Nang; a magnitude 2.8 quake in Mang But, Quang Ngai; a magnitude 2.7 quake in Tra Tan, Da Nang; and a magnitude 3.0 quake in Mang But, Quang Ngai. All four of these recent tremors had a focal depth of approximately 8.1 km.

Prior to these, four additional earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 2.8 were recorded on September 20 in the Tra Linh and Mang But areas. As of the latest reports, no casualties or property damage have been recorded, and the disaster risk level remains at level 0. Local authorities and the Institute of Earth Sciences are continuing to monitor the seismic activity.
