East Belgian Rally features championship battles in motorsport

The East Belgian Rally is set to take place in the Sankt-Vith region, serving as a critical event for several racing series. In the Porsche Rally Trophy Benelux, eight teams will compete in the penultimate round of the season. This event features a double points system, meaning the 2026 title could potentially be decided as early as this weekend, though the Spa Rally remains the scheduled finale.

The rally also features the top tier of the Belgian championship, with 15 vehicles competing, including drivers such as Maxime Potty, Jos Verstappen, and Grégoire Munster. Local drivers like Tom Heindrichs and Kevin Hommes are also participating in the Citroën C3 Rally2 class.

In the Junior Belgian Rally Championship, Emilien Allart holds a two-point lead over Benoit Wauthier. Allart needs to finish the race to secure the title, while Wauthier must improve his scoring to stay in contention. The event is noted for its high speeds and challenging blind corners, a terrain that helped develop world-class drivers like Thierry Neuville.
