East Jakarta sees two separate motor‑related crimes, police detain suspects
Police in East Jakarta arrested a motor thief after a neighbor recognized the suspect from a CCTV video that went viral on social media. The theft occurred in an indekos on Jalan Suci, Gang Mantri, Ciracas early on 8 June 2026. The victim discovered the motorcycle missing at dawn and posted the footage, leading to the arrest of a man identified only as MF by the Ciracas police chief.
In a separate incident, residents detained a youth who attempted to purchase a motorcycle on Jalan Pahlawan Revolusi in Pondok Bambu, Duren Sawit, using counterfeit cash worth roughly Rp12 million. The money, in Rp50 000 notes, was discovered to be fake after the seller inspected it. Villagers helped subdue the suspect before police arrived, causing traffic delays on the nearby road.
