East Nusa Tenggara earthquake infrastructure restoration complete for national roads

Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has confirmed that all national road sections and bridges affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) have been restored and are now operational. As of August 30, 2026, the Ministry of Public Works reported that 17 road sections—comprising 88 landslide points and three fault breaks—along with 14 bridges and three culverts, have been returned to service.

Efforts are now shifting toward repairing provincial and regency roads to improve connectivity between districts and provide alternative routes. The ministry is also prioritizing the rehabilitation of basic services, such as providing clean water on Flores Island.

Beyond transportation, the earthquake caused significant damage to public buildings. The Ministry of Public Works has recorded 651 affected structures, including 238 health facilities, 300 places of worship, and 112 religious education facilities. Major damage was noted in hospitals, community health centers, mosques, and churches.
