Humanitarian aid for NTT earthquake victims

Overview

Humanitarian aid efforts for the victims of the magnitude 7.7 earthquake on Flores Island continue to expand through government, political, and community channels.

In a significant escalation of support, the Indonesian government has released Rp200 billion in unexpected expenditure funds for disaster management. The NTT provincial government is set to receive Rp40 billion, while eight regencies—including Manggarai, Ende, and Sikka—will each receive Rp20 billion. To bolster medical and logistical capabilities, the Indonesian Navy has deployed the KRI Teluk Parigi-539 with 50 tons of logistics and the KRI dr. Soeharso-990 hospital ship to provide medical services and oxygen.

Various ministries have launched specialized responses. The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has activated a disaster task force, while the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) established response posts in Manggarai, East Manggarai, and Nagekeo. The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection is distributing 30 tons of aid for women and children and establishing a service hub (Pos SAPA). Additionally, the Ministry of Education is prioritizing the revitalization of damaged schools in Nagekeo and Ngada.

Regional and private contributions remain substantial. West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has been active in the Manggarai and Manggarai Timur regions, overseeing the distribution of Rp4 billion to Rp4.5 billion in emergency supplies and tiered cash assistance for home repairs. Private sector support includes Rp1.3 billion from TelkomGroup, while the Perkumpulan Rumah Besar Flobamora (PRBF) in West Papua has collected over Rp167 million. Other efforts include PDI Perjuangan’s aid for premature infants and MKGR’s distribution of food, medicine, and water.
