East Texas weekend events August 1 feature Trade Days, markets and shows

East Texas is busy this weekend with a wide range of public events. The world's largest flea market, the Canton First Monday Trade Days, runs through Sunday, offering vendors and shoppers a historic venue for antiques, crafts and food.

Farmers’ markets appear in Longview, Tyler, Palestine, Mineola and other towns, while live music, family activities, comedy shows and car exhibitions add entertainment options. Specific highlights include an Evening Fishing event at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens on Friday, a Gun & Knife Show at the Longview Expo Center on Saturday and Sunday, and the "On Main" street‑level celebration in downtown Palestine on Saturday.
