Eastern Rail Mainline lacks priority status and will bypass Biała Podlaska

The Polish Ministry of Infrastructure has confirmed that the Eastern Rail Mainline, also known as Rail Carpatia, is not listed among priority projects through 2035. In a response to an inquiry from MP Michał Moskal, Deputy Secretary of State Piotr Malepszak stated that while the corridor remains an important communication axis within the Integrated Rail Network, it currently lacks a construction date and confirmed funding.

The proposed route has shifted, with the axis now passing through Siedlce instead of Biała Podlaska. This change means Biała Podlaska may remain without a fast, direct rail connection to the regional capital, Lublin, requiring travelers to take a circuitous route through Łuków.

The original project, developed under the Central Communication Port (CPK) program, envisioned a new 100-kilometer line (Line 631) connecting Milanów, Biała Podlaska, and Fronołów. Despite previous support from twenty local governments, current EU classifications reportedly exclude the project from this year's Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) competitions.
