Poland Eastern Rail Mainline planning status
Overview
The Polish Ministry of Infrastructure has confirmed that the Eastern Rail Mainline, also referred to as Rail Carpatia, is not designated as a priority project through 2035. While the corridor is considered an important axis within the Integrated Rail Network, officials stated it currently lacks confirmed funding and a specific construction date.
The proposed route has also undergone changes, shifting to pass through Siedlce rather than Biała Podlaska. This adjustment may leave Biała Podlaska without a direct, fast rail connection to Lublin, potentially forcing travelers to use a circuitous route through Łuków. The original project, part of the Central Communication Port (CPK) program, intended to build a 100-kilometer line connecting Milanów, Biała Podlaska, and Fronołów. However, current EU classifications reportedly exclude the project from the present year’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) competitions.
