easyJet to exit Leeds Bradford Airport while expanding Scottish operations

easyJet is undergoing significant network changes, including a complete withdrawal from Leeds Bradford Airport starting January 5, 2027. This decision, following a network review, will end services to Málaga, Palma de Mallorca, and Barcelona from the Yorkshire-based airport. Passengers with existing bookings after the closure date are being offered refunds or alternative flights.

In contrast to the exit from Leeds Bradford, the airline is expanding its presence in Scotland. Celebrating 31 years of service in the region, easyJet has reached a record capacity for the Q3 2026 period, with 1.4 million one-way seats scheduled across Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Inverness. Edinburgh has notably risen to become the ninth most-served airport in the airline’s network, supported by new or increased routes to destinations such as Barcelona, Belfast City, Ljubljana, and Malaga.

The airline's recent strategic shifts follow a reported 70 per cent fall in half-year profit due to rising jet fuel costs and a £5.7 billion takeover agreement by the US private equity firm Apollo.
