Eberswalder sausage production moves to Zerbst facility
Production of the well-known Eberswalder sausage brand has been relocated to a facility in Zerbst, Saxony-Anhalt. The move follows the closure of the traditional production site in Britz near Eberswalde in February, which affected approximately 500 employees after nearly 50 years of operation.
Eberswalder Wurstwerke is part of the zur Mühlen Gruppe, a subsidiary of the Premium Food Group. The Zerbst site, operated by Anhalter Fleischwaren GmbH, employs nearly 700 people and has a history of meat production spanning 100 years. Company management stated that the Zerbst location will be further expanded and emphasized that the East German brand remains within the region.
