Eberswalder sausage production relocation

Overview

The Eberswalder sausage brand has relocated its primary production to a facility in Zerbst, Saxony-Anhalt. This transition follows the closure of the company’s long-standing factory in Britz, Brandenburg, which had been in operation for nearly 50 years and employed approximately 500 people.

Production will be expanded at the Anhalter Fleischwaren GmbH site in Zerbst, a facility with a 100-year history in meat production that currently employs nearly 700 people. Management stated that the majority of the brand’s approximately 300 products will now be manufactured in Zerbst, while other production continues in Suhl and Chemnitz.

Eberswalder is part of the zur Mühlen Gruppe, which is owned by the Tönnies/Premium Food Group. Company leadership emphasized that the brand intends to remain an East German staple by focusing on traditional recipes and maintaining production within the region.
