Madison Air Solutions to acquire ebm-papst for 5.1 billion euros
Madison Air Solutions has reached an agreement to acquire the German airflow technology specialist ebm-papst. The transaction values ebm-papst at an enterprise value of 5.1 billion euros, with a net sale price of approximately 4.775 billion euros.
The acquisition is strategically aimed at addressing the surging demand for advanced thermal management and cooling solutions in data centers, driven by the expansion of AI infrastructure. Madison Air Solutions intends to leverage ebm-papst’s expertise and its extensive patent portfolio to bolster its global presence, particularly in European and Asian markets where it currently has limited representation.
The three shareholder families of ebm-papst—Sturm, Ziehl, and Philippiak—will fully exit the company. Following the deal, the company’s headquarters, research, development, and production facilities are expected to remain in Mulfingen, Germany. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, with completion anticipated by the end of 2026.
