Ebola outbreak leads to suspension of transport links between Bunia, Mongbwalu and Aru in DRC

Public transport services between the towns of Bunia, Mongbwalu and Aru in Ituri province have been halted for more than a week to curb the spread of Ebola. The suspension was initiated by transport operators after civil‑society groups warned that the high flow of travelers was facilitating transmission.

Aru has reported seven confirmed Ebola cases, including four deaths, with additional fatalities in nearby Aungba. Provincial deputy Antoine Mopepe praised the measure and urged other districts to adopt similar restrictions. Commercial flights between Bunia and Aru have also been suspended as part of the response.
