Ebola response in Ituri bolstered by Ugandan doctors and media partnership
The military governor of Ituri province, Major‑General Kasongo Mulumba Gaby, met with Benx Mubengwa, director of the provincial branch of the public broadcaster RTNC, to reaffirm the media’s role in supporting peace, social cohesion and the fight against Ebola. Mubengwa noted ongoing construction of a public TV station in Bunia and pledged greater media outreach for reconstruction and disease control.
Separately, a delegation led by Uganda’s Health Minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi arrived in Bunia with 48 Ugandan doctors. The team will reinforce Ebola treatment centres, train local staff and enhance surveillance under a recently signed health‑cooperation memorandum between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. Border movements remain limited to essential goods and response personnel while full reopening is planned.
