Ebonyi civil groups clash over missed World Bank grant, youth endorse PDP governorship hopeful
A coalition of civil society organisations in Ebonyi State accused the state government of failing to meet performance targets required for the World Bank’s $500 million Hope Governance Programme, causing the state to miss out on a $27 million incentive payout. The groups called for greater fiscal transparency, stronger public‑financial‑management oversight, and investigations into revenue‑collection practices they say deter investors.
Separately, the Ezza Ezekuna Youth Assembly endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma‑Odii, for the 2027 election. The youth body highlighted his business experience and philanthropic record, promising that his leadership would revitalize the state’s economy, create jobs and improve public services.
