Ebonyi Governor Nwifuru Denies Tinubu Handing State to FCT Minister Wike

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State rejected rumours that President Bola Tinubu had transferred political control of the state to Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike. Speaking at a stakeholders’ rally in Abakaliki ahead of his re‑election campaign, Nwifuru said, “We have all it takes to consume whoever is trying us; we have all it takes to destroy whoever is trying us,” and insisted that Ebonyi remains an APC stronghold.

The rally was attended by Imo Governor Hope Uzodimma and Anambra Governor Charles Soludo. PDP factions responded differently: the faction aligned with Wike condemned Nwifuru’s remarks as reckless, while another PDP group praised his stance, accusing Wike of meddling in Ebonyi politics. Both sides referenced the upcoming 2027 governorship election, with the Wike‑aligned faction naming Ifeanyi Odii as its candidate.
