Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru Replaces Cabinet Members, Swears In Two New Commissioners

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, Nigeria, announced a cabinet reshuffle on June 30, 2024, appointing two new commissioners. Prof. Omari (Amari) Omaka was named Commissioner for Tertiary Education and Sylvester Nwenegwu Nwite became Commissioner for Environment. A special assistant on youth mobilisation was also sworn in.

The reshuffle redeployed several incumbent officials: Chidiebere Onyia moved from Solid Minerals to Youth and Sports Development; Dr. Ngozi Obichukwu shifted from Aviation to Special Projects; Prof. Ajuka Nwogo transferred from Market Development to Skills Acquisition and Job Creation; Okwu Udu to Market Development; Magnus C. Nkah to Solid Minerals; Richard Ugo Idike to Capital City Development; Sunday Elechi Inyima to Project Monitoring; and Victor Chukwu to Water Resources. The governor said the changes are meant to strengthen governance, improve service delivery and advance the state’s Peoples Charter of Needs agenda.
