Ebonyi state to adopt President Bola Tinubu as sole 2027 presidential candidate

Minister of Works David Umahi announced that on 15 June Ebonyi State will formally adopt President Bola Tinubu as its sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election, rejecting former rival Peter Obi. While touring federal projects in the five South‑East states, Umahi highlighted several legacy infrastructure initiatives under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, including the Calabar‑Ebonyi‑Benue‑Abuja Trans‑Sahara Superhighway, the dualisation of the Abakaliki–Afikpo–Ndibe Beach highway and related Dangote‑funded sections. He described the superhighway as an “investment corridor” that will boost trade in cassava, yam, cashew and palm oil and strengthen links with neighbouring Cameroon. The minister praised President Tinubu’s commitment to completing projects despite the rainy season, noting concrete road technology and progress of about 28 % on some sections. Governor Francis Nwifuru also reiterated the safety of Ebonyi and the breadth of ongoing development projects across the state. The announcement ties the political endorsement to a broader narrative of infrastructure development in Nigeria’s South‑East.
