Ecatepec launches breast cancer prevention and health campaign

Ecatepec Mayor Azucena Cisneros announced the “Ecatepec se Pinta de Rosa” health campaign, scheduled for October 19 at the municipal esplanade. The initiative aims to provide health services, prevention, and guidance in observance of World Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

Services offered by the City Council and the municipal DIF include mammary examinations, general consultations, dental check-ups, psychological orientation, and affiliation with IMSS-Bienestar. Additionally, women showing warning signs will receive vouchers for free mammary ultrasounds at the Matilde Montoya Clinic. The event also marks the launch of the “Ruta Rosa: Mujeres que se cuidan,” a program designed to bring medical attention directly to various neighborhoods within the municipality.

Edith Muñoz, director of the municipal DIF, reported that the permanent detection program has assisted approximately 800 women this year. Of those, 450 received ultrasounds, 25 were identified with anomalies, and three tested positive for breast cancer. Those patients have been referred to IMSS-Bienestar and Hospital Juárez for continued care.
