Mexican municipal breast cancer awareness campaigns
Overview
Municipal governments in Mexico have launched health campaigns to observe breast cancer awareness month.
In Ramos Arizpe, the Municipal DIF initiated the ‘Tócate sin miedo y cuídate con amor’ campaign. This program focuses on self-care, regular medical check-ups, and early detection through activities in urban and rural communities. The campaign included a ceremony at the Plaza de Armas where the Municipal Presidency facade was illuminated in pink.
In Ecatepec, the ‘Ecatepec se Pinta de Rosa’ initiative was announced to provide services such as mammary examinations, dental check-ups, and psychological orientation. The municipality also launched the ‘Ruta Rosa: Mujeres que se cuidan’ program to deliver medical attention directly to neighborhoods. Local officials reported that the permanent detection program has already assisted approximately 800 women this year, with several cases of anomalies and positive cancer tests being referred to hospitals for continued care.
